Everyone has obstacles they must face on a daily basis. Whether it be mental, physical, or environmental- we all have something that holds us back from our ideal self. Instead of accepting ourselves for the amazing beings we are, we constantly beat ourselves up for not being "perfect". I am determined to change my own mindset about my imperfections and I am doing so through my artwork. I have begun to realize that the most positive elements of my life are actually a direct result of struggle. For example, I have developed empathy for others because I have gone through my own share of darkness. My work serves as a documented journey to self-acceptance and self-confidence. By exploring my own emotions, I am better able to deal with and talk about them. I sincerely hope my work motivates the audience to reflect on their own desires for perfection and their expectations of themselves and others.
